Regen, Penchant for Trouble: Book One by Cassie Greutman

5 stars

Regen is the first book in this YA fantasy series. It follows Trisha as she is forced to team up with her ex to hunt a dangerous escapee from Faerie. She grew up with horror stories of that place and to keep from having to return, she must find this criminal.

I loved that the author used what I’m going to call the original idea of fae and tying it to Faerie. There are so many different versions existing today. I loved also that the other types of fae are tied in including trolls, ogres, and goblins. This story really moved at a good pace and there was never a dull moment. The author did a great job building up her world. The characters have great development and growth. I also really enjoyed the emphasis on family with the characters and their human connections. It varied from those who were raised in Faerie. Trish also demonstrated loyalty and a great sense between right and wrong. I’m curious to see how that will play into the main story later.

Some questions I have going forward and looking to book two are as follows:

Who exactly is Cray?

Who are Trisha’s parents, real parents?

Will she reignite her love with Wade or move on to another?

What will life be like in Sanctuary for the characters?

I read a paperback version of this book and you can find it on Amazon. I highly recommend it and can’t wait for the next book to arrive to begin reading it. Look for an interview with this amazing author coming soon to my YouTube channel.

What are your thoughts on this book? Do you prefer a certain type of fae when you read?
