Book Review: Valixika The Goddess by J. X. Knudsen
If you’re looking for a steamy read with action, both sexual and fighting, this story is for you. It’s a short read that can be finished in a few hours and will keep you on the edge of your seat. Oh, and possibly biting your lip. Just don’t chew a hole in it. ;-)
This story is a continued storyline from the previous books of the series that I have yet to read. I didn’t have any issues following along with the main character Valixika as she found herself in the midst of a tribe on an island. I was curious as to how she got there, but that will be touched on later.
The story opens with a fight scene between a group of warrior women and a large beast. I immediately got Xena Warrior Princess vibes from this group, and even more so when Valixika joined the fight. Her level of strength and power was like that of a god compared to the women she arrived to help. This led to the women declaring her their goddess of pleasure, Valxaca.
It was foretold but the priestess of their clan that one day their goddess would grace them with her presence and that they were to shower her with affection. The men were trained in the arts of pleasure rather than women.
I have to pause here because I found their world fascinating in that the women were the warriors, and the men were the ones trained to please. None of them were trained to fight, only the women. Very refreshing.
Later in the story, it’s mentioned in a thought she has that she was dropped at the island purposely by someone. I plan to read more to find out who this may be.
The name of the goddess, Valxaca and Valixika, are similar in that I had to backtrack a bit at the start of the story to see if it was a misspelling or if they were purposely different. That was something that bugged me as the story progressed, but it did not take away from the heat of the story and the overall plot.
This story is an erotic romance, and there are multiple explicit sex scenes with both mf, mfm, ff, and fmf coupling. There is bloodshed, drinking, partying, death to wild beasts, kidnapping, and cursing.
I loved that this story was an action-packed, steamy adventure roped into one. It would appeal to those who enjoy shorter reads, erotica, romance, and strong female warriors.
Overall I enjoyed this story immensely and have already purchased the first story in this series. I give it a 5 out of 5-star rating.
