Author Spotlight on Hannah-Louise Smith

Tell our readers briefly about yourself.

I’m a self published author with two books out. I’m a lover of books, tea and fantasy. My favourite horror movie is scream and I have a Siberian husky called Logan.

Can you tell us about your most recent release? Album? Song? Art piece? Etc.?

My recent release is called Darkness (Book 2 Mythics and mortals trilogy), it’s the second book in a trilogy and is an urban fantasy based on Ancient Greek mythology.

What inspires you?

The WEBTOON novel Lore Olympus and Greek mythology.

What is your creative work routine like? Do you balance it with another job?

I work early mornings and spend the rest of my day writing after a work out.

Do you plan out your creations? What is your process before you create?

I make a rough detailed chapter plan for the book and start writing it on paper, then I type up and edit every five chapters.

Do you have a self-care routine or want to have one? What do you do or wish that you did to take care of your mental health?

I try to take a bit of time out for myself and do a face mask and a hot bubble bath every Saturday night to destress.

What is your favorite creation thus far?

Has to be my second book Darkness, I put so much into it.

Do you have a character that is your favorite over others you've written into creation?

Yes, Helena Sandwood from my current work in progress called Gameplay. She and I are a lot alike.

Are there any recurring themes in your work?

Family. It’s one of the most important things that a person can have.

What does success look like to you considering your creative passion?

Success is having my books on amazon and knowing that people have read them.

What is something your fans/readers/followers don’t know about you or something unique about yourself?

I’m a huge fan of musicals and will sing along badly and loudly to them.

What advice would you share with new or aspiring authors/singers/artists/etc?

Just keep going. The only time you will fail is if you never try.

Where do you get your ideas for world building?

I use my imagination.

What genre do you prefer to read?

I prefer fantasy, it’s a lot easier to get lost in because the real world right now is a mess.

What hobbies do you have?

I like reading and writing is pretty much my hobby.

Do you have any outside experiences that influenced your work?

My experience with relationships has definitely influenced the creation of Helena Sandwood and how she reacts to other characters.

Where can our viewers/readers/listeners find you and your work?

Everyone can find me on social media and my work is on amazon.
