Tell our readers briefly about yourself.
Hi everyone, my name is Glenda and I am a recording academy voting member and a grammy considered recording artist. I've been writing music and touring since I was sixteen professionally. I am a stand for love, transformation and being in action around the things that possess our passions. True self expression is one of the keys to freedom.
Can you tell us about your most recent release? Album? Song? Art piece? Etc.?
My newest music track is a single and it's called "Walking". it's now out on all platforms and the music video is now on my YouTube channel - YouTube.com/c/glendabenevides I decided to write a song that truly reflects how we feel when we become victimized in some way. Being lead down a path with the promise of something great, something that fits into our desires, hope or dreams and is a complete illusion. So much so we get taken advantage of and the feeling of being ripped off are paramount. So, I thought I would talk about that and the consequences it takes on ones soul.
What inspires you?
Life! When I slow down I see the simplest beauty, insights or a whisper in my soul to a question I needed answering. A question I had in my mind for something I had been musing on slips in with a colorful antidote.
What is your creative work routine like? Do you balance it with another job?
I do what I do full time. I wake, early and do my meditations, yoga, walk exercise. Then I head in to focus on what is at hand and make sure I am on track for the goals I have set for the year, the month and the week and that just the day to day then I need to practice my craft. Being an entrepreneur is not for the faint of heart. I honestly don't know how anyone could do another job and fully bring yourself to creative work as a full time job too. Maybe as a hobby. Hats off to those who can!
Do you plan out your creations? What is your process before you create?
It varies. Depends on what area you are talking about. If it is writing a song. Well, that is several areas to break down too and it never happens always the same. If you're talking about performance that has it's own process and value in it's own unique way. I can share more in our one on one conversation due to the complexity of the answer.
Do you have a self-care routine or want to have one? What do you do or wish that you did to take care of your mental health?
It's all linked. Mental health always starts with the basics. It starts with understanding yourself, working through and identifying your beliefs that are not serving you. Making sure you have a life that supports your needs like, a type of exercise that circulations the blood and lymph system, eating clean food and drinking water to hydrate and flush out the system. Understanding your own needs and honoring that this all supports a healthy mental attitude. This is not to say that some people are predisposed to chemical imbalances that they are born with. This is something you would need to take care of with your doctor and use other behaviors to support that decision.
What is your favorite creation thus far?
Each one has its own value but I guess one my inspired dance songs is called "Soulution" off the Goddess Ep.
Do you have a character that is your favorite over others you've written into creation?
My book Courage, Find the Fire and Ignite Action in Your Life is non-fiction - self help.
Are there any recurring themes in your work?
Transformation, Clarity, Courage, Confidence and Commitment is huge themes for me.
How much research was required on your topic of choice?
Living my life in such a way that really creates breakthroughs. This is an opportunity to share and talk about what works and what didn't work in my life. Supports people to see another possible path.
How did you organize and keep track of all your information, face to face interviews, etc.?
I created talking points and share what I think may serve the conversation and just be myself.
What does success look like to you considering your creative passion?
Success is when people get value out of what you are sharing with them and their life if better served.
What is something your fans/readers/followers don’t know about you or something unique about yourself?
As you may know, as an artist-entrepreneur you have to wear many hats I believe this makes us more compassionate. I also do a lot of work planting trees and support people to raise their vibration, to be themselves, speak out and find a passion that expresses themselves.
What advice would you share with new or aspiring authors/singers/artists/etc?
Be clear about who you are and what you want, step forward with courage, build your confidence and find your deep commitment to sharing your work. Be resilient and never give up.
Where do you get your ideas for world building?
Life and people around me.
What genre do you prefer to read?
non-fiction/ self help/ philosophy
What hobbies do you have?
I fence, ride horse and do roll playing games with friends.
Do you have any outside experiences that influenced your work?
